Evelyn Bereth Hilden

Evelyn Bereth Hilden, age 91 of Wadena, MN died Sunday, July 5, 2015 at Tri-County Hospital in Wadena. Evelyn was born to George and Emma (Vitt) Howes on October 3, 1923 in Osage, MN. She grew up in the Hillview and Sebeka area where she attended school. She was united in marriage to Paul Burgess on December 31, 1949. To this union 2 daughters were born, Connie Jo and Debra Kay. Evelyn worked as a cook in cafés in Wadena and Sebeka and later worked at Green Pine Acres in Menahga for 8 1/2 years until she retired. In 1977, she married Allen Hilden of Sebeka. They made their home in Menahga until Allen’s death on August 23, 1995. After which she sold their home and moved to Wadena where she resided until her death. Evelyn was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church of Menahga for many years. She was active there as a Sunday School Teacher, LWML and ladies quilting. She later became a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Wadena. She was a member of Rockwood Ladies Advanced League for many years. Evelyn loved to garden especially her flowers, playing cards, dancing, cooking and baking and craftwork. She leaves to mourn her two daughters Connie Jo (Lloyd) Fredericksen of Nimrod, MN and Debra Kay (Michael) Peterson of Wadena; Arla Tolppi 13 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents George and Emma Howes, two brothers Harvey and Edward, and her two husband, Paul and Allen and one sister, Pearl Visitation will be from 5-8 on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at Wevley Funeral Home in Sebeka and continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, July 9, 2015 at St. John Lutheran Church in Wadena.
