Donald Richard Pauna age 78 of Menahga, MN died Monday, June 15, 2015 at Green Pine Acres Nursing Home in Menahga, MN. Donald was born to Richard and Ida (Stahl) Pauna in Menahga, he lived Ottertail County for 10 years and then his family bought a dairy farm in Runeberg Township. Donald graduated from Menahga High School in 1954. He continued his education at Humboldt Institute for Traffic Management. Donald enlisted in the United States Army he served from 1956-1958 and was in Korea from 1957-1958. In September of 1960 Donald was united in marriage to Ione Evelyn Holen in Minneapolis, MN to this union three children were born. They moved to Menahga in 1972 where Donald enjoyed a small farm. He was self employed in used furniture and used farm machinery business in what is now Sunny Brook Auto Sales. He sold that business and went into a partnership with his brother Arnold near Butler, MN in livestock feed and mineral sales. Donald retired in 1995 and moved into Menahga, where he could often be found Golfing at Blueberry Pines Golf Club until back trouble limited his activities. Don was a member of first English Lutheran Church, Sebeka American Legion, Menahga Lions Club and the Menahga VFW. Donald is survived by his wife, Ione Pauna of Menahga, MN; daughter, Eileen Snelling and her husband James of Menahga, MN; two sons, Howard Pauna of Minneapolis, MN and Douglas Pauna of Bemidji, MN; grandchildren, Ashley Pauna of Grand Forks, MN; Amber Pauna of Bemidji, MN; brother Harold and his wife LaVonne of Spokane, WA; sisters, Irene Olufson and her husband Gary of Osceola, WI; and Arlene Makela of Little Falls, MN; several nieces, nephews other relatives and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by, his parents, his brother, Arnold and his sister, Ellen. Memorial Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, June 25, 2015 at First English Lutheran Church in Menahga with visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Steven A. Bruer will officiate. Marry Hanninen will serve as organist. Honorary Urnbearers will be his grandchildren and all who called him friend. Guy L. McDermeit VFW Post 6206 will provide Military Honors. Inurnment will be at Menahga City Cemetery.
