Charles "Chuck" Ervin Greenwaldt

Chuck Greenwaldt, 57 years 6 months, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2015 at his home in Menahga, Minnesota. Chuck was born on December 10, 1957 at the Thiel Hospital in Bertha, Minnesota to Ervin and Mardell (Fox) Greenwaldt. He was baptized at the United Methodist Church in Hewitt, Minnesota. Chuck attended Bertha-Hewitt Elementary School. He graduated from Menahga High School in 1976. He enlisted in the Navy in 1977 and served on the USS Emory S. Land until 1982. After his honorable discharge, he attended Bemidji State University. Chuck worked in sales at Lake’s Sporting Goods in Bemidji, worked with Ralph Cox doing remodeling and carpentry, bartended at the Menahga VFW and most recently worked at Sunnybrook Auto in Menahga. Chuck will always be remembered as a loving brother, uncle and great uncle. He loved his friends and always provided lively and well-crafted stories. His quiet and thoughtful demeanor will be missed. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; sister Patricia; and stepmother Clara Greenwaldt. He leaves to mourn his sisters Judy (Donald) Schlueter, Sandy (Richard) Baso, Linda (Blayne) Ferley; stepsister Lois (Joe) Hallerman; stepbrother James (Sandy) Kopponen; and 54 nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 21 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the First English Church in Menahga. The Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, June 22 at First English Church in Menahga at 11:00 a.m. A lunch will follow the service at the VFW in Menahga. Inurnment will be held at the Hewitt Cemetery at a later date. Honorary urnbearers are all who called him friend and family.
