Richard “Dick” Lee Torgerson, 62, of Menahga, MN died Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at St. Joseph Hospital Park Rapids. Dick was born to Richard and Mary (Strohmayer) Torgerson on October 27, 1952 in Mora, MN, were he was raised and attended school. He was working for North Rup King when he met and later married Teresa Pickar. They moved to Princeton MN, where Dick worked for Don Kuether Trucking, hauling milk for a few years. He then bought his first truck, shortly after; Dick started his own trucking business. He moved to Menahga were he started hauling logs and working in the woods for North Star Lumber. Dick and his son Joe bought logging trucks and named their new business D and J Trucking. Their business expanding to include nine over the road trucks. Dick health forced him to sell all but one of his logging trucks and trailer, which his son continues to drive D and J Trucking and Joe Torgerson Timbers. He has left behind the mother of his children Teresa Torgerson, Menahga; son, Joe Torgerson, Menahga; Tammy Schwartz and her husband Craig of Sebeka, MN; four grandchildren, Brandon Torgerson, of Sebeka; Sherissa Torgerson, New York Mills, MN; Jodi Torgerson of Menahga, MN; Joe James Torgerson of Menahga, MN; great-granddaughter, Morgan Matson of New York Mills, MN; his parents, Richard and Mary Torgerson; siblings, Bonita Torgerson, James Torgerson, and Robert Torgerson all of Circle Pines, MN; uncles, aunts, other relatives and a host of friend who will greatly miss him. Memorial Services will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at First English Lutheran Church with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.
