Eldon "Ike" Francis Marjamaa, of Menahga died Saturday, May 2, 2015 at his home surrounded by family after a courageous 9 year battle with cancer. He never let cancer define him and always sought “normalcy” by living each day to the fullest. Ike, as everyone called him, was born on July 24, 1944 to Emil and Augusta Marjamaa in Wadena, MN. He was united in marriage to Ann Foss on September 20, 1980. They were blessed with 3 sons, Peter (Sara), Jeffrey (Heather), and Joseph who preceded him in death in 1983. Ike was a jack of all trades, a handyman, and spent many years doing construction with his brothers Wade and Otto. He was a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Post office in Menahga until 2007 when he retired. His favorite place to be was home. He was a master gardener and cook and he loved to deer hunt with his sons, brothers and other family. He was proud of his boys and loved to watch them play high school and Midway Baseball. Ike was proud to have served in the Military in Vietnam in 1968. Besides his wife and children, Ike is survived by his grandson Kaden Marjamaa, brothers, Harold, David, Allen, Wade and Otto; sisters, Amy, Mary and Betty. He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law Romaine Foss and Louise Bishop, son Joseph and sister, Nancy. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Friday, May 8, 2015 at First English Lutheran Church in Menahga, MN and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, May 9, 2015 at First English Lutheran Church in Menahga, MN with Pastor James M. Hallaway officiating. Lonnie Schmidt will serve as organist. Marci Sabin will provide special music. Honorary Urnbearers will be Wade Marjamaa, Otto Marjamaa, Allen Marjamaa, Burt Marjamaa, Dan Marjamaa, and Matt Marjamaa. Active Urnbearers will be Pete Marjamaa and Jeff Marjamaa. Guy L. McDermeit VFW Post 6206 of Menahga, MN will provided Military Honors. Inurnment will be at Alajoki Cemetery at a later date.
