Joyce Ada Dorenbush

Joyce Ada Dorenbush, 92, of Sebeka, died Thursday, March 26, 2015, at Heritage House of Sebeka. Joyce was born to Clifford and Cora Graba on February 3, 1923, in Wadena County. She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Sebeka High School with the class of 1941. On November 29, 1942, she married Louis Dorenbush at Hennepin Avenue Methodist Church in Mpls., MN. Lou and Joyce settled on Lou’s home farm west of Sebeka as dairy farmers and it’s there they raised their 6 children. In 1976, they moved to Sebeka to enjoy retirement. Joyce was active in the Sebeka United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women’s organization. She began her new hobby- painting ceramics at the Pink Pony. She also had the gift of creativity – crocheting, embroidering, knitting and sewing. She and Lou spent many winters in AZ where they made some great friends. After Lou’s death in 2000, Joyce and her brother Jack began traveling to AZ to spend the winters close to their siblings. She became involved in her lifelong passion of volunteering – driving folks around, delivering “meals on wheels” for the Senior Center until the winter of 2013. Joyce is survived by her 6 children; Ronald (Donna) of Yorktown, VA.; Rebecca (Ken) Becker of New York Mills, Terry (Mary) of Eau Claire, WI; Jayne (Doug) Koskiniemi, of Sebeka, Pam (Mike) Eastlund of Mesa, AZ and Scott (Amy) of Albertville.; 12 grandchildren , 19 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren; brothers Jack, Jayson (Marilyn); Joe (Sylvia); and her sister Janice (Raymond) Buckingham; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lou, brothers, James and Jerome, sisters-in-law Alice Graba, Anna Graba and Helen Graba. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Wevley Funeral Home Sebeka, MN. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, March 30, 2015, at the Sebeka United Methodist Church with Pastor Steven Koehne officiating. Musicians include Linda Roiko, pianist, singers Ray Seibert and Kim Harrington and Deana Malone vocalists. Pallbearers are her sons, Ron, Terry and Scott and sons-in-law Ken, Doug and Mike. Burial is in Sebeka West Cemetery.
