Hilia Josephine Lindroos

Hilia Josephine Lindroos, age 93, of Sartell MN, formerly of the Menahga area, passed away on December 15, 2014 at the Country Manor Care Center in Sartell. Hilia was born to Nick and Ida (Wirtanen) Lindroos on July 6, 1921 in Meadow Township, Wadena County MN. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She went to Menahga High School for one year and graduated from Sebeka High School with the class of 1940. She received a Bachelor of Science from UMD in 1945. In 1952 she received her Masters degree in Library Science from the University of Minnesota. Her career took her to High Schools in Fosston, Grand Rapids, Stillwater, Alpena MI, San Bernardino CA, Lancaster CA and Muroc school district at Edwards Air Force base. Hilia retired in 1987 and moved to the St. Cloud area. She leaves to survive a sister-in-law, Agnes Lindroos of Menahga, nieces and nephews, Joanne Ouellete of Crosby, MN, Mary (Jeff) Moses of Eugene Oregon, Sandra Voss and Arthur Voss, Jr. of Chicago, Debra Lindroos of Lindstrom MN and Roger (Jean) Lindroos of Menahga. Preceding Hilia in death were her parents, Nick and Ida Lindroos, brothers Charles, Waino, John, Frank, Emil, and Aile. Sister Lila Voss and sisters-in-law, Ellen Lindroos, Mae Lindroos, Lila Lindroos and Gladys Lindroos, brother-in-law Arthur Voss and niece Elsie Stromberg. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, December 22, 2014 at First English Lutheran Church with the Reverend Steven A. Bruer officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Menahga City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Dollars for Scholars program in Menahga or Sebeka.
