Chester Walfred Luukinen was born November 24, 1919 in Paddock Township to Charles and Tekla (Koski) Luukinen. He passed away November 3, 2014 at Lakewood Hospital in Staples, MN at age 94. Chester attended a rural school through eighth grade. In 1944 he joined the Army, where he later served as a medic in WWII. He was a member of the American Legion and lifetime member of the VFW. After his honorable discharge he worked at Minneapolis Moline as a supervisor. That's where he was introduced by mutual friends to Marian Goldenstein. They were married on August 31, 1947. They worked in the cities, and then moved to Sebeka in 1949 and started a dairy farm. This is where they raised their two children Kevin and Janet. Chester and Marian shared 67 wonderful years together. Chester is survived by his wife, Marian; children: Kevin (Lynda) Luukinen, of Mandan, ND; Janet (Ron) Indihar of Bemidji, MN; grandchildren: Dustin Luukinen of Wadena, MN; Ashley Church of Motley, MN; Heather Luukinen of Fargo, ND; Great-grandchildren: Nakoda, Payton, and Briley. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church with visitation two hour prior to the service. Pastor Rachel Stout will officiate. Inurnment will be at Grace Lutheran Cemetery at a later date.
