Harvey Dean Horton of Sebeka, Minnesota, passed away at his home in Sebeka, surrounded by family, on June 9, 2014, at the age of 72 years. Harvey was born on July 29, 1941 in Huntersville Township, Wadena County, Minnesota to Neroy and Edythe (Havener) Horton. He attended Country School for the first eight years, graduating from Menahga High School in 1961. Harvey was united in marriage to Shirley Jurva on September 29, 1962. This union was blessed with four children: Edward, Julie, Sheila and Darren. His many hobbies included playing pool, bowling, playing cards, fishing, baseball, hunting and softball. He held various positions of employment, working for Minneapolis Electric Steel, Sebeka Creamery, he owned Nimrod Bar and Grill from 1976-1992, and worked as a cook for Burger’s and Cream in Menahga. He also spent time as a block layer, house mover, in sewer and water and Horton’s Construction, as well as farming. Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, Neroy and Edythe, and his brothers, Delmar and Orlan. He is survided by his children: Edward Horton, Julie Horton (Justin), Sheila Horton, and Darren Horton (Brenda); grandchildren: Nicole, Ashley, Nathan, Adam, Tara (Edward), Tanya, Taylor, Felicia, Austin, and Autumn; great-grandchildren: Alexis, Aiden, Jadalynn, and Peyton; siblings: Elvin (Brooks), Anita (Roland) Hauser, Ruth, Vicky; sisters/brothers-in-law: Marladeen (Roger) Dickson, Ardel, Norval (Mary), Marlyn (Grace), Vallery, Maxine, Loren, Arnie (Vickie); and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held on Monday, June 16, at 11:00 a.m. at the Sebeka United Methodist Church in Sebeka. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment services will be held at the Hubbard Cemetery at a later date.
