Violette Augusta Lapinoja

  Violette Augusta Lapinoja, age 92 passed away peacefully on March 18, 2014 at her home in Menahga, MN with her family and loved ones by her bedside. Violette was born to Gustave and Edith (Olbeckson) Riemann on October 22, 1921 in Haliday, ND. As a young girl the family moved back and forth from Minnesota to North Dakota several times. Violette graduated from high school and later was united in marriage to Helmer Lapinoja on February 16, 1946. To this union two children were born, daughter Marilyn of Menahga and son Myron Lapinoja. Violette was baptized in the Lutheran Faith. Violette work at the Badoura State Tree Nursery for thirty-two years, she was always willing to help others and especially loved cleaning and raking yards, gardening and other outside activities. She was an excellent cook and baker and loved to have people come for coffee, picnics were a must during the summer with Violette. Violette is survived by her daughter Marilyn of Menahga; daughter-in-law Diane of Menahga three grandchildren, Kevin (Becky) Lapinoja of Menahga; Keith (Kim) Lapinoja of Park Rapids and Amanda Lapinoja of Menahga; three great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Helmer, son Myron, four brothers, one sister, and several nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at Nimrod Lutheran Church Nimrod, MN with visitation 5-8 p.m. on Monday, March 24, 2014 at Wevley Funeral Home in Sebeka and one hour prior to the service the Church. Pastor Mark Hesse will officiate.  Honorary Pallbearers are her all of her grandchildren: Kevin, Keith, Amanda; great-grandchildren: Meagan, Jacob, Brinley, great-great grandchildren; Colton, Gavin, Jayda. Inurnment will be in the Huntersville Cemetery at a later date.
