God has welcomed into heaven a truly loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Sheldon Lee Rasmussen 65, passed away in his home surrounded by family on Wednesday, March 5, 2014. Sheldon was born September 25, 1948 in Hallock, MN to Ellis “Bud “and Bernice Rasmussen. Sheldon was baptized in Zion Lutheran Church in Dexter, MN on June 12, 1949. He was married to his wife of 40 years Ruthie Keskitalo on April 7, 1973. He served in the Navy following high school. Sheldon enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, farming, grilling and being with family and friends. He had a special place in his heart for his three grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Ruthie, his children Jason (Katie) Rasmussen, Heidi Rasmussen and Heather (Daniel) Huwe; his precious grandchildren Parker and Griffin Rasmussen and Bella Huwe; his siblings, Leon (Carol) Rasmussen and Sheila (Daniel) Keskitalo, along with many nieces and nephews. Sheldon will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Sheldon is preceded in death by his parents Ellis and Bernice Rasmussen. You will hear his laughter in the wind, his bright smile in the sky and his joyous spirit will be forever in our hearts. We would like to thank hospice for their kindness and dedication. Visitation will be on Sunday, March 9, 2014 from 4-7 PM. and one hour before the service at the church. Funeral Services will be held at Grace Lutheran Church Sebeka, MN on Monday March 10, 2014 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Mark Hesse officiating. Sara Crabb-Erickson will serve as organist and Shelley Kangas will be soloist. Honorary Pallbearers are his grandchildren Parker and Griffin Rasmussen and Bella Huwe. Active Casketbearers include Thomas Miller, Jack Miller, Kevin Miller, Randy Rasmussen, Raymond Putikka, and David Keskitalo. Guy L. McDermeit VFW Post 6206 of Menahga, MN will provide Military Honors. Also in presents will be the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 941. Interment will follow the funeral service at Evergreen Cemetery Sebeka, MN.
