Wilbur Charles McDonald, age 82, of Sebeka, MN passed away January 14, 2014 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Wilbur was born on March 15, 1931 in North Germany Township to James and Marie McDonald. He attended country school until eighth grade and then worked on the family farm. He joined the United States Army February 10, 1955 where he spent most of his time in Germany until January 24, 1957. After honorable discharge from the Army he returned to the family farm. Wilbur was united in marriage to Mary Lou Goble February 23, 1957. They raised 3 children; Sandra, Rhonda and Steve. Along with farming, Wilbur spent time driving truck for Sarkela out of Sebeka, logging, planting trees for the Badora Nursery and harvesting wild rice. Wilbur and Mary Lou were dairy farmers in rural Sebeka. After retiring from milking cows they spent time raising beef cattle, pigs and other farm animals. In recent years he devoted his time to caring for wife, Mary Lou. Wilbur is survived by his wife Mary Lou; brother Don McDonald (Sandy); daughters: Sandra Johnson (John) of Bulverde, TX; Rhonda Robberstad (Bill) of Monticello, MN; son Steve (Kathy) of Eagan, MN. Wilbur is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Dustin Hoefs, Eric Johnson, Katie Johnson, Andrew McDonald, Emily McDonald, Courtney Johnson, Kelsey Johnson, Jake Robberstad, Matthew McDonald, Michael McDonald, Joe Robberstad and four great-grandchildren Lane and Brynna Hoefs and Lila and Adam Johnson. Wilbur is preceded in death by his parents James and Marie McDonald. Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Sebeka United Methodist Church in Sebeka, MN with visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Steven Koehne will officiate. Jayne Koskiniemi will serve as organist. Special music will be provided by Avis Horton and Deana Malone singing “Daddy’s Hands.” Readers are Andrew McDonald and Michael McDonald. Honorary Pallbearers include: Eric Johnson, Dustin Hoefs, Andrew McDonald, Michael McDonald, Matthew McDonald, Jacob Robberstad and Joseph Robberstad. Berg Nylund American Legion Post 456 of Sebeka, MN will provide Military Honors. Inurnment will be at West Lyons Cemetery at a later date.
