Arnold E. Huwe, age 89, of Spruce Grove Township died October 19, 2013, at Green Pine Acres, Nursing Home in Menahga, MN. Arnold was born July 15, 1924, to Albert and Emma (Janke) Huwe at the family farm in Corliss Township. He attended District 228 School from 1st through 8th grade and graduated from Perham High School in 1942. Shortly after graduating he served in the Marines and was stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA. In 1955 he married Eleanor Tangen and they made their home in Bloomington, MN. Here they raised three children and Arnold worked as a drywall taper. Arnold and Eleanor's second career began in 1981 when they returned to dairy farming on Eleanor's family farm near Wolf Lake. Arnold was active in his churches (Bloomington Lutheran and Christ Lutheran) and held a number of positions on the church councils. He also served as the Spruce Grove Township Supervisor for 23 years. Over the years Arnold enjoyed playing baseball, horse shoes, and cards, and cutting, splitting, and stacking firewood. Arnold is survived by his wife, Eleanor, his children, Rand (Diane Kohl) of Bloomington, Janice (Tom Bedore) of Glyndon, Jean (Leo Cotton) of Bloomington, four grandchildren, Jillian and Jacob Huwe and Erik and Kathryn Johnson, two brothers and their wives, Eldor and Margaret and Albert Jr. and Violet and his sister-in-law Jeanette. Arnold is preceded in death by his parents and six siblings, Thelma Dickson, Leona Matz, Raymond, Helen Anhorn, Kenneth and Norman. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Friday, October 25 at Christ Lutheran in Wolf Lake. Memorial Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, October 26, at St John's Lutheran Church in Corliss Township, Otter Tail County, with Pastor John Ramsbacher officiating. Dale Lubitz will serve as organist. A private family inurnment will follow at Spruce Grove Cemetery.
