Marcella Elizabeth Bernstetter

Marcella (Marcie) Elizabeth Bernstetter age 91 of Menahga formerly of rural Sebeka, MN died Monday, October 7, 2013 at Green Pine Acres Nursing Home in Menahga, MN Marcie was born to Stephan and Anna (Tschida) Pitzl on June 6, 1922 in St Paul, MN. She attended St. Agnes Catholic School in St. Paul, and graduated from Washington High School in St. Paul. Marcie married Louie Henry Bernstetter on May 7, 1949 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in St. Paul, MN. Marcie and Louie lived on a dairy farm in rural Sebeka, and upon retirement built a home near the farm. In 2004 they moved to Woodside Manor, and in April 2013 Marcie moved to Green Pine Acres Nursing Home. Marcie was an active member of St Hubert's Catholic Church in Bluegrass, MN where she sang in the church choir and was a member of Christian Women/Christian Mothers. She was a 4-H leader for many years, a Homemakers Club member, and loved gardening, traveling and spending time with her family. Marcie is survived by three sons, Michael of Alexandria, MN; Dennis and wife Lynn of Lake Elmo, MN; Joe and wife Christine of St. Joseph, MN; one daughter, Mary Beth Brockpahler and husband Mark of Sebeka, MN; one sister, Agnes Watrin of Bayport, MN; one brother Raymond Pitzl of Roseville, MN; twelve grandchildren, Christina Akolly and husband Emmanuel, Cheryl Maboudou and husband Gaga, Chad Bernstetter and wife Bobbie, Brian Bernstetter, Holly Tonolli and husband John, Aaron Bernstetter and wife Kristin, Andrew Bernstetter, Anna Bernstetter, Tyler Brockpahler, Emily Crabb and husband Gregg, Alex Brockpahler, Katianne Brockpahler, nine great grandchildren, sister-in-law Mary (Mitzi) Pitzl, brothers-in-law Dick Stock and Donald Johnson, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Louie, her parents, four sisters, Teresa Pitzl, Barbara McCarter, Madge Demulling, and Phyllis Stock, two brothers Francis Pitzl and infant Stephan Pitzl. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at the Wevley Funeral Home in Sebeka and one hour prior to the service at the church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 14, 2013 at St. Hubert’s Catholic Church in Bluegrass, MN with Father Arlie Sowada as Celebrant. Jan Kern will serve as organist. Honorary Pallbearers are Christina Akolly, Cheryl Maboudou, Holly Tonolli, Anna Bernstetter, Emily Crabb, Katianne Brockpahler and nine great-grandchildren. Active Casketbearers include Chad Bernstetter, Brian Bernstetter, Aaron Bernstetter, Andrew Bernstetter, Tyler Brockpahler, and Alex Brockpahler. Soloist will be Mark Fulfs singing “The Holy City.” Interment will be at the St. Hubert’s Catholic Cemetery in Bluegrass, MN.
