Alice Veera Mable Myllykangas, age 88, of Menahga, MN died Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Green Pine Acres Nursing Home in Menahga. Alice was born to Nestor and Olga (Anderson) Roiko on August 4, 1924 in Rockwood Township, Wadena County, MN, where she was raised and attended school. On March 23, 1946 Alice was united in marriage to Edwin Kuha in New York Mills, MN together they raised Jeannette (Kuha) Richter as their own. They later moved to Minneapolis where Edwin died on March 4, 1975. After Edwin’s death Alice returned to the Sebeka area and met John Myllykangas. They were married on May 1, 1982 in Hibbing MN. They lived in Floodwood, MN until 1994, when they moved to Menahga, John died on May 22, 1998 Alice continued to live in Menahga. Alice was baptized and confirmed into the Apostolic Lutheran faith. She was a member of the Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church in Menahga. She enjoyed quilting and stamp collecting. Alice is survived by her daughter, Jeanette Richter and her husband Dick of Big Lake, MN and their two children Brent and Jody; two sisters, Florence Lillquist of Menahga and Ellen Rousu of Delano, MN; two sisters-in-law Lempi Roiko of Menahga and Donna Roiko of Sebeka, nieces, nephews, friends and brothers and sisters in faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Edwin Kuha and John Myllykangas, sisters, Mayme Juntunen and Elma Isaackson, brothers, Reino, August, Andrew, Henry, Arve and Walter Roiko. Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 PM Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at the Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church in Menahga, with visitation two hours prior to the service at the church. Richard Salmela will officiate. Honorary Pallbearers are all of the staff at Green Pine Acres Nursing Home in Menahga. Active Casketbearers are Russell Roiko, William Roiko, Ronald Rousu, Steven Roiko, Robert Keranen and Kevin Roiko. Interment will be at Meadow Apostolic Lutheran Cemetery.
