Margaret Ellen Stursa

Margaret Ellen Stursa age 81, of Sebeka, MN, died Sunday, July 28, 2013 at the Elders Home in New York Mills, MN. Margaret was born on October 12th, 1931 to Clarence and Clara (Smith) Claflin in Menahga, MN, where she grew up and went to school. She also attended Sebeka Public school. After high school she moved to Minneapolis, MN where she worked as a nanny until her marriage to the love of her life Tony Stursa. Tony and Margaret raised 5 children on the dairy farm just south of Sebeka. In 1988 they sold the farm and built a house just south of Sebeka where they spent many happy years together. Tony passed away on March 18th 1994. Margaret lived in their home for several years where her "girls" Claudia and Judy watched over her. In 2009 she moved to the Heritage House in Sebeka because of her Alzheimer's Disease. Margaret loved to travel and go on fishing trips. She and Tony traveled to many places over the years. She really loved spending time with her two best friends, Olga Schwartz and Lee Fischer. She also enjoyed reading and doing crafts with her girls. She loved embroidering crib quilts that she had given to many people over the years. Margaret had been very excited waiting for the arrival of her next great grand child, due any day. She was also anticipating the marriage of her grandson Alex to his bride Haley. She always enjoyed the times spent with her grandchildren that were close to her Tony, Michael, Leann and Trevor, Christy and Willie, Tina, Rachael, and Alex. She was so excited when Glenn and Josie came home with the kids. The house was full of family and friends and lots of laughter. Gordy Johnson and Ross Fischer always added to the fun. She loved them both like her own. She is survived by her children Claudia (Ron) Huchel of Sebeka, Kathy (Verdale) Soukup of Pine River, MN; Tom (Linda) Stursa of Park Rapids, MN; Glenn (Joanne) of Winnemucca, NV Judy (Gary) Burgau of Sebeka, MN, 14 grand children, 17 great grand children and sisters Mary (Gordon) Lidtke and Joanie (Loren) Carlson. She is preceded in death by husband Tony, siblings Muriel, Marcella, Les, Wayne, Gene, Chuck, Clifford, Richard, and Curt. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, August 2, 2013 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Sebeka, MN with visitation on hour prior to the service at the church. Pastor Rachel Stout will officiate. Hilda Mary Schoon will serve as organist. Special music will be provided by Mark Fulfs will solo “Amazing Grace.” Honorary Pallbearers are the Staff at Heritage House of Sebeka, The Elders Home and Tri County Hospital. Active Pallbearers include Leann Hawkinson, Trevor Hawkinson, Michael Grewing, Tony Burgau, Gordy Johnson and Ron Huchel. Interment will be at Sebeka West Cemetery.
