‘The Lord only takes the Best and Brightest’ Rodney Lee Stewart age 46, of Menahga, Minnesota, was called home to our Lord Friday, May 17, 2013 at St. Joseph Hospital in Park Rapids, MN after a long and courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). Rodney met his death as he lived his life; surrounded by the people who loved him, He will always be remembered as a loving and devoted son, brother, husband, father and friend. Rodney was an honest man, with the work ethic to match. He lived life to the fullest, as an avid outdoorsman; he relished any opportunity to hunt or fish, especially with his dad. Rodney was also a student of history, reading books, watching documentaries and collecting historical memorabilia. His laugh, his passion and his loyalty and love will be missed by all. Rodney is survived by his son, Jordan, his mother, Marladeen, his brothers, Marlyn (Jacqui), Lowell (Vonnie) and Gordon (Kathleen), along with many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Roy his paternal grandparents, Edward and Elsie Stewart and his Maternal Grandparents, Kenneth and Hazel Downer. Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at the Menahga United Methodist Church in Menahga, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, May 23, 2013 at the Menahga United Methodist Church in Menahga, MN with Pastor Steven Koehne officiating. Nancy Johnston will serve as organist. Special music will be provided by niece, Kristina Story, singing “Heaven” and “Remember When.” Honorary Pallbearers are all family and friends. Active Casketbearers are Jacob Stewart, Andy Eckman, Justin Eckman, Tim Sharp, Gary Sharp and Dan Sharp. Interment will follow the service at the Menahga City Cemetery. The Stewart Family would like to thank the staff of St. Joseph’s Hospital for their understanding and caring nature during this painful time in our lives.
