Steven Lee Salminen age 52 of Menahga, Minnesota died Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at Essentia Health in Fargo, North Dakota. Steven was born July 28, 1960, in Park Rapids, MN, the son of Donald and Anna (Zepper) Kangas. Steven was baptized and confirmed at First English Lutheran Church in Menahga Steven was raised and attended school in Menahga, he completed his education by obtaining his GED. Steven worked construction his whole life. He was a skilled sheet rocker and worked mainly in this industry. He enjoyed the out of doors and all the activities surrounding it including, fishing, hunting at the Red Eye Ranch, playing horseshoe, and watching ballgames. Steven was a loyal friend who would literally give the shirt off his back, he was available to lend a helping hand no matter what you were doing, repairing a roof, scooping snow, mowing lawn or changing a flat tire. Steve was a devoted father who loved and cared for his daughter. He enjoyed the young and the young hearted, he liked playing board games and cards. Steven was very generous not only with his time and talents, but would often bring refreshments or goodies from the bakery when stopping to visit friends. Steven had a kind and loving soul and will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Steven is survived by his daughter Delrae Faith, his sister, Susan and her husband Sam; brothers, Michael and Bradley; niece, Katelyn Ann; nephews, John Elliott and Dalton Ron; sister-in-law Terry Lynn; aunts, Denice Zepper and Alma Hanson. He was preceded in death by his mom, Anna Marie; dad, Donald; brother, Ronald; grandparents, uncles, John Zepper, Art Hanson and Alvin Kangas. Memorial Services will be held at 5:00 PM March 23, 2013 at First English Lutheran Church in Menahga, MN with Pastor Steven A. Bruer officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Honorary Pallbearers are all that called him friend. In lieu of flowers memorials to the family are preferred.
