Aldrich Niemela

Aldrich Isaac Niemela age 93, of Menahga, MN died Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Green Pine Acres Nursing Home in Menahga, MN. Aldrich was born to Jacob and Mary (Bimberg) Niemela on June 8, 1919 in rural Menahga, MN, where he was raised and attended country school and helped on the family farm. He graduated from Menahga High school in 1938 and continued farming on the family farm where he remained most of his life. Aldrich was united in marriage to Dorothy Sjogren and three children where born to this union. He was on the school board for Country School District 24-38, was a school bus driver and also served as sexton of the Mantyla Cemetery for many years. Aldrich is survived by two sons, Dennis Niemela and his wife Donna of Coon Rapids, MN; Gordon Niemela and his wife Judy of Rochester, MN; six grandchildren, ten great- grandchildren, one great great-grandchild, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife his son Jerry Niemela and twelve brothers and sisters. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at the Wevley Funeral Home in Sebeka, MN. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, February 21, 2013 at First Apostolic Lutheran Church in Sebeka with Pastor Art Skoog officiating. Janet Mattson will serve as organist. Active Casketbearers include Archie Lake, Mike Lambert, Roger Lambert, Bob Niemela, Dan Niemela and Philip Jones. Interment will be in Mantyla Cemetery, Red Eye Township, Wadena County, MN.
