Virginia (Ginger) Elaine Weappa, 86, of Sebeka, MN passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, February 8th at the Heritage House of Sebeka. Born on November 28, 1926 to Flora (Lee) and Omer Stephenson, Ginger was a graduate of Sebeka High School. She married the late Ralph William Weappa on August 26, 1943 and they made their home in Wadena, MN. Ginger assisted Ralph with his work as a technician for MN Valley Breeders Association and enjoyed raising their family as well as fishing and hunting. After Ralph’s death, Ginger shared her love for cooking at the Ottertail Liquor Store, Country Roads, Bluffton Power House and eventually worked for many years at the Wadena Golf Course. In addition to her husband, Ginger was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Jean (Carpenter) Geise, Betty Weappa and her great-grandson Marcus Wurst along with other dear family members. Ginger is survived by her sister Connie (Claflin) Bennett, five children; Larry (Lynda) Weappa, Gail (Bob) Wurst, Mary (Scott) Rstom, Linda (John) Wex and Geri (Peter) Ginder and her adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren…in her words “not an ugly one in the bunch”! A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 16th at Wevley Funeral Home, 107 1st ST NE, Sebeka, MN with a fellowship gathering at 1pm followed by service at 2pm. The family extends a special thanks to the staff of Heritage House for the wonderful care they provided Ginger over the past several years as well as support given to the family at the end of her journey.
