Wilbert “Willie” Emil Froemming age 87 of Menahga, MN died Monday, November 12, 2012 at his home in Menahga. Willie was born to William and Sophie (Dittberner) Froemming on July 18, 1925 in Carlos, MN. Willie was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. He attended grade school in Miltona, MN and graduated with the class of 1943 from Jefferson High School in Alexandria, MN. Willie lived in Miltona until October of 1943 when he entered the United States Navy. He was honorably discharged on May 20, 1946 with a Ship’s Cook First Class Rating. On July 20, 1946 Willie was united in marriage to Helen M. Keel, they made their home in Miltona were Willie was employed from 1946 to 1948 for the Co-op in Miltona, from 1948 to 1950 he worked with the Co-op in Lake Park, MN. In 1950 he moved to Menahga where he was employed by the Farmers Co-op Sampo until 1960. Willie began his career with First National Bank in 1960 that continued until his death. Willie was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Menahga, and a Lifetime Member of the Menahga VFW and the Menahga American Legion. Surviving Willie is his daughter, Nancy Day and her husband Roger of Menahga; one sister Ruth Grundei and her husband Earl of Eagan, MN; two grandsons Jim Day and his wife Christina of Menahga; Justin Day and his wife Sonja of Menahga; four great grandchildren: Alayna Day, Liam Day, Evan Day and Ryken Day. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Helen and two brothers. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Sunday, November 25, 2012 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Menahga, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial Services will be held Monday, November 26, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Menahga, MN with Pastor John Ramsbacher officiating. Inurnment will be at Menahga City Cemetery. All memorials will be added to the Froemming Family Foundation for the local community.
