Virginia Raye Sammeli

Virginia Raye Sammeli, age 74 of Menahga, MN passed away at the St. Joseph's Hospital, in Park Rapids, MN, on November 4, 2012. Virginia was born March 23, 1938 to Signe and Julius Johnson from Menahga. Virginia grew up on a farm near Menahga with her older brother Russell. She went to a country school and then to High School in Menahga. Although she lived most of her life in or close to Menahga, she also lived in Fergus Falls, MN and Seattle, WA. Virginia married Hilbert "Bert" Sammeli and they lived in Sebeka, MN. Years later she moved to Wadena, MN and then to an apartment in Menahga. She was living at Rose Haven, in Menahga, before she went to St. Joseph’s Hospital. Virginia was preceded in death by her father (Julius), her brother (Russell) and several aunts and uncles. She is survived by her mother (Signe of Menahga), her nephew (Allan Johnson of Bountiful, UT), her niece (Sharon Johnson Oberon of Camarillo, CA), her sister-in-law (Shirley Johnson Donnelly of Santa Paula, CA), her aunt and uncle (Mildred and Reino Kyrola of Plymouth, MN), their son (Randee Kyrola of Independence, MN) and many cousins and good friends. She will be missed by all those who knew her and loved her. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 10, 2012 at the Wevley Funeral Home in Sebeka, MN with Pastor Steven Koehne officiating. Interment will be at Green Valley Cemetery in Becker County, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
