Reno Delvin Juntunen

Reno Delvin Juntunen, age 90, of Menahga, MN passed away October 1, 2012, after a brief illness at St. Joseph's Hospital in Park Rapids, MN. Reno was born to Charles and Olga (Carlson) Juntunen on July 22, 1922, on a farm near Rolla, ND. He graduated from Rolla High School in 1940. He was united in marriage to Marian Herrala on November 6, 1941. This union was blessed with four daughters: Carole, Marlene, Loraine, and Barbara. Reno and Marian farmed for 41 years near Hansboro, ND. After retiring in 1982, they moved to Menahga, MN. Marian passed away in 2010. Reno was a loving father and diligent farmer. In retirement he enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and yard work. He also enjoyed doing maintenance work at their church and camp facilities. He and Marian always enjoyed hosting meals and overnight visitors in their home. He was a member of the Laestadian Lutheran Church of Menahga. Reno is survived by daughters Carole (Gene) Groff of Bloomington, MN; Marlene Lake of Menahga, MN; Loraine (Gordon) Kumpula of Loretto, MN and Barbara (Lawrence) Byman of Longview, WA; 26 grandchildren, 105 great-grandchildren; two sisters Hazel Koistinen of Sturgis, SD; Helen (Gerald) Halvorson of Bellevue, WA; two brothers Melvin (Betty) Juntunen and Dale (Linda) Juntunen both of Rolla, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marian, one sister Eileen Herrala, four brothers Carlo, Roy, Fred, and Clarence, son-in-law Rodney Lake; grandson Lannon Lake and great-granddaughter Jessica Alajoki. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Laestadian Lutheran Church of Menahga. Visitation will be from 5-8:00 PM on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at Wevley Funeral Home in Sebeka, MN and will continue from 9:30 AM until the time of the service at the Menahga Laestadian Lutheran Church in Menahga, MN with Jon Bloomquist and Darwin Lake officiating. Ben Huhta will serve as organist. Active Casketbearers are Phil Byman, Ken Byman, Kevin Byman, Jeremy Lake, Randy Lake, Patrick Lake, Bradley Lake and Nathan Lake. Interment will be in Balmi Cemetery in Wolf Lake Township, Becker County, MN.
