Ernest J. Trimble

Ernest J. Trimble age 80, of rural Menahga, MN passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Park Rapids, MN. Ernie was born to William (Ernie) and Irene (Sharp) Trimble on October 9, 1931 in Menahga, MN. He graduated from Menahga High School in 1949. He then served 6 years in the US Navy and 18 years in the US Air Force. Ernie was united in marriage to Beverley Anderson on September 8, 1956. He retired from the Air Force in 1973. Ernie was very proud of serving his country. He returned to Menahga and worked for the NFO, managed the Wolf Lake liquor store, owned a gas station in Menahga, managed Mick Ande Feed in Wolf Lake and worked for the Post Office. He was active in the VFW and held multiple office positions. He also served on the Menahga School Board as a result of a bet that he couldn't get elected. Ernie also enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting. He is survived by his wife, Beverley Trimble, son, Jeff Trimble of Sartell, MN (Mary Ellyn) daughter, Barb Leckner of Savage, MN (Scott Dahl) grandchildren, Daniel Leckner, Mike Leckner (Katie), Alysha Trimble, Laura Leckner and Nate Leckner; great grandchildren, Coen, Landon and Bella; brothers, Richard Trimble (Raechel) Loveland, CO and David Trimble of Menahga, MN; sister, Louise Stewart (Walter) of Menahga, sister-in-law Jeanette Trimble of Sioux Falls, SD; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Dennis and Rosie Anderson of Frazee, MN; Shirley and Marvin Anderson of Wolf Lake, MN; Darwin (Doc) and Joanie Anderson of Evergreen, MN; many nieces nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother William (Bill) Trimble. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM on Sunday, August 19, 2012 at Bethany Lutheran Church, rural Menahga, Spruce Grove Township, Becker County, MN with prayer service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 20, 2012 at Bethany Lutheran Church, rural Menahga with Pastor Steven A. Bruer officiating. Lonnie Schmidt will serve as organist. Guy L. McDermeit VFW Post 6206 will provide Military Honors. Interment will be at the Bethany Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Wevley Funeral Home of Sebeka.
