Norma Alvina Redetzke

Norma Alvina Redetzke age 72 years of Sebeka, MN, died Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, North Dakota. Norma was born to Otto and Ella (Luckow) Eckert on September 26, 1939 in North Germany Township, Wadena County, Minnesota, the sixth of eight children. Norma graduated from Sebeka High School in 1957. She was united in marriage to Harold Redetzke on June 8, 1957 at the Otto Eckert home in Sebeka. They lived in Foxhome, MN for several years and then moved back to Sebeka where they farmed until retirement. Norma began working fulltime in the kitchen at Sebeka Public School in 1975; she became the head cook the next year and retired in 2002. She was active with the quilt guild at our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Wadena County Homemakers, and Red Hats until her health ended her involvement. Norma is survived by her five children daughters, Diane (Ronnie) Steinkraus of Sebeka; Debbie Redetzke of Lincoln, Nebraska; sons, Myron (Pam) Redetzke, Marvin (Lori) Redetzke and Calvin (Joni) Redetzke all of Sebeka; seven grandchildren: Lacey (Justin) Eckman, Shawn Redetzke, Jeremy (Erin) Redetzke, Levi Steinkraus, Evette Steinkraus, Reid Redetzke and Logan Redetzke; four great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn and Keira Eckman and Karter and Braydon Redetzke; two sisters, Doris Johnson and Emily Eckert; two brothers, Ken and Miles Eckert; sister-in-law, Lavonne Eckert; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Harald, sister, Nancy Eckert, brothers, Glen and Duane Eckert and brother-in-law, Harold Johnson. Memorial Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Sebeka, MN with Pastor Rachel Stout officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Organist will be Marge Kinnunen. Congregational hymns will be “Amazing Grace,” “In the Garden” and How Great Thou Art.” Inurnment will be in Green Hill Cemetery at a later date.
