Eugene Monroe Tangen

Eugene Monroe Tangen, age 93, of Menahga, Minnesota died August 25, 2011 at Green Pine Acres Nursing Home in Menahga, Minnesota. Eugene was born in Perham, Minnesota on October 31, 1917 to Christian and Mabel (Erickson) Tangen. He was confirmed at Bethany Lutheran on October 25, 1931. Eugene attended school at District 75, Spruce Grove Township through 8th grade. His entire working and retirement years were spent on the family farm in Spruce Grove, until entering Green Pine Acres in 2009. Eugene is survived by brothers, Duane and wife Karen of Afton, Minnesota; Arnold and wife Marlene of New Hope, Minnesota; and sister Eleanor Huwe and husband Arnold of Menahga. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Delbert Tangen and sister Dolores Tangen. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Service at the Church. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM at Bethany Lutheran Church in rural Menahga on Wednesday, August 31, with Pastor Steve Bruer officiating. Shirley Anderson will serve as organist. Honorary Pallbearers are Mike Tangen and Kristy Leach. Active Casketbearers are Eugene's nephews and nieces: Daniel Tangen, Julie Tangen, Pamela Hanson, Rand Huwe, Janice Huwe, and Jean Huwe. Interment will be at Bethany Lutheran Cemetery.
