Frances Jorgina Torma

Frances Jorgina Torma age 79, of Sebeka, MN died Friday, July 22, 2011 at Virginia Regional Medical Centre in Virginia, MN. Frances was born to Arthur and Margarita (Anderson) Schmidt on July 12, 1932 in Monticello, MN. She lived in Becker, MN until moving with her family to Menahga, MN in 1942. Frances completed eight years of schooling and then worked many jobs including working at Green Pine Acres Nursing Home. In 1970 she proudly gained her GED and with that ventured on to LPN training graduating in 1973. Frances was employed by St. Joseph’s Hospital and Home Care and she retiring after twenty-five years of loyal service. Frances married Melvin Torma in September of 1973 they made their home in Menahga where she was an active member of First English Lutheran Church. In 2005 they sold their home and moved to an apartment in Sebeka. Frances was a member of the Sebeka American Legion Auxiliary, Hibbing VFW Auxiliary, and Menahga Gateway Lions. Frances is survived by daughter Linda Laurich and her husband Bill of Colorado Springs, CO; son Gerald Etter and his wife Linda of Eveleth, MN; sisters and brothers in law, Louise Jannusch, Joan Torma, Hazel Eskola, Hilma and husband Reuben Tretbar and Bert DeMars, five grandchildren: Mickey (Michelle), Kori, Brad, Holly (Travis) and Kevin, five great grandchildren: Kali, Alex, Erika, Khorbin and Olyviah, her God Child Tonya Ackerson also many nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her parents, by her husband Melvin Torma, Lloyd Etter, infant daughter Katharine, brother Arthur and Gail Schmidt and sister Emogene and Louis Etter, grandson Jeffery Laurich and several brothers and sisters- in law. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at Wevley Funeral Home in Sebeka, MN with the Sebeka American Legion Auxiliary Service at 7:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at First English Lutheran Church in Menahga with Pastor Steven A. Bruer officiating. Shirley Anderson will serve as organist. Pastor Steven A. Bruer will solo “The Lord’s Prayer.” Congregational hymns include “Amazing Grace,” “On Eagles Wings,” and “What a Friend We Have in Jesus.” Active Casketbearers are Mickey Etter, Holly Etter, Kori Etter, Brad Laurich, Kevin Laurich and Jeff Tretbar. Honorary Pallbearers are Carolyn, Dorothy, Jo, Marlene, Karen and Tina. Interment will be at Green Valley Cemetery.
