Gerhard Ulrich Goerke

Gerhard Ulrich Goerke, 78, of Sebeka, MN died on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at his home. Gerhard was born to Irwin and Martha (Brockhoff) Goerke on November 20, 1932 in Krakow-Am-See, Germany where he was raised and attended school. Gerhard came to the United States in 1961 and moved to Madison, MN where he farmed, Gerhard also farmed in South Dakota and moved to Sebeka in 1980 where he farmed until his retirement. Gerhard worked for Peoples Express for the past 13 years. He was a member of the Nimrod Lutheran Church. Gerhard is survived by his wife Shirley Goerke of Sebeka, MN, three daughters, Gabriele Brockelsby and her husband Gary of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Julie Horton and Justin of Sebeka, MN, Sheila Horton and Nathan of Sebeka, MN, three sons Wolfgang Goerke and his wife Mary of Little Falls, MN Edward Horton of Wadena, MN, Darren Horton and Lori of Wadena, MN, two brothers Gunter Goerke and his wife Hilde of Oldenberg Germany, Horst Goerke of Germany, nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and first wife Gertrude. A Prayer Service will be held at 6:30 P.M. on Monday, June 6, 2011 at the Wevley Funeral Home in Sebeka. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Nimrod Lutheran Church in Nimrod, MN with Pastor Mark Hesse officiating. Congregational Hymns will be “On Eagles Wings”, “The King of Love My Shepherd Is”, and “Precious Lord Take My Hand”. Lolita Myers will serve as the organist. Active Casketbearers will be Edward Horton, Darren Horton, Gary Paurus, Michael Roers, Rick Sanders, and Allen Tumberg. Honorary Pallbearers are all of his Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. Interment will be at Meadow Apostolic Lutheran Cemetery.
