Hazel Ann Newhouse

Hazel Ann Newhouse age 66, of Menahga, MN died Friday, April 29, 2011 at her home in Menahga. Hazel was born to Mary (Wierina) and Loyal Arthurs on August 19, 1944 in Paddock Township, Ottertail County, MN where she was raised and attended school. Hazel was united in marriage to Edwin Melvin Newhouse; four children were born to this union. She worked at various jobs throughout her lifetime and was immensely enjoying her retirement. She treasured time spent with family and friends and was a courteous hostess with a fresh pot of coffee on. Hazel also enjoyed her solitude reading a book or watching the birds as she sat by her window. Hazel will lovingly be remembered by her daughter, Brenda Olson (Tim) of Park Rapids, MN; sons, Todd Newhouse and his wife Michelle of Menahga, MN; and Junior Newhouse and his fiancé Shawnette of Hewitt, MN; one brother, Clayton Arthurs of Halstad, MN; four grandchildren, Dustin Olson, Bryan Newhouse, Lucas Newhouse and Danielle Newhouse, four great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, many other relatives and friends. Her parents, husband Edwin, son Kevin, and one sister, two brothers preceded her in death. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at First English Lutheran Church in Menahga. Memorial Services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at First English Lutheran Church in Menahga with Pastor Steven A. Bruer officiating. Shirley Anderson will serve as organist. Special music will be “The Lord’s Prayer Soloed by Pastor Steven A. Bruer. Congregational hymns include “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Amazing Grace,” “How Great Thou Art.” Honorary Pallbearers are her grandchildren, Dustin Olson, Bryan Newhouse, Lucas Newhouse and Danielle Newhouse. Inurnment will be next to her husband at Jim Cook Cemetery at a latter date.
