Hazel Anna (Jessen) Bimberg

December 21, 1918 — March 30, 2011

Hazel Anna Bimberg age 92 died the thirtieth day of March 2011 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, MN. She was born December 21, 1918 to William and Julia (Mattson) Bankord in Menahga, MN. When she was three weeks old her mother passed away, and she was raised and lovingly cared for by her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. John Bankord. She attended White Oak Country School and later the high school Sebeka, MN. In 1937 Hazel married Harold Jessen and nine children were born to this union. She was a loving mother, homemaker and was known for her abilities as a seamstress and for her work in upholstery. In 1988 Harold passed away and she soon moved to Detroit Lakes and resided at the Lamplighter Manor Apartments. While there she enjoyed doing volunteer work at Emmanuel Nursing home and also for the adult day care. In 1994 she married Walter Bimberg who passed away in 2004. Hazel was a confirmed member of the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church and she loved her Lord. She will be greatly missed and we all await that day when we will be reunited and are able to say “O death, where is they Sting? O Grave where is thy Victory?” I Corinthians 15:55 Hazel is survived by six daughters Elaine Lehmann of Detroit Lakes, MN; Beverly Raines of St. Cloud, MN; Ruth Jessen of Anchorage, Alaska; Mary Staudacher and her husband Rodger of Portage, Michigan; Linda Sharp and her husband Leslie of Frazee, MN; Laurie Reger of Sebeka, MN; Daughter-in-law Bonnie Jessen of Park Rapids, MN; one son David Jessen and wife Robyn of Frazee, MN; three sisters, Betty Blake, Beatrice Hoskinson and Bonnie Murphy; three brothers, Eugene Bankord, Larry Bankord and Wilbur Bankord, twenty- two grandchildren, thirty-six great-grandchildren, four great great-grandchildren many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, Harold Jessen and Walter Bimberg two sons, Stanley in infancy and Clyde in 2009, three grandchildren, one sister Beverly and three brothers, Gordon, Aden and Howard. Funeral Services will be held 12:00 noon on Wednesday April 6, 2011 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Menahga with visitation two hours prior to the service at the church. Pastor John Ramsbacher will officiate. Ruth Ann Kinnunen will serve as organist. David Jessen will solo “Day By Day.” Congregational hymns will be “Amazing Grace,” “I’m But a Stranger Here,” and “Nearer My God to Thee.” Honorary Pallbearers are all of her grand children, great-grand children and great great-grandchildren brothers, sisters and all who called her friend. Active Casketbearers will be Kevin Jessen, Chad Jessen, Larry Lehmann, Daniel Jessen, Bret Jessen and Terry Lehmann. Interment will be at Paddock Bethany Cemetery in Paddock Township, Otter Tail County, MN.
