Emmaline Leone Schleicher age 95, of Menahga, MN died Monday, March 28, 2011 at Green Pine Acres Nursing Home in Menahga. Em was born on June 6, 1915, the fourth of seven daughters born to Hiram and Ida (Ludvigson) Mizener at Cleveland, ND. She attended school at Cleveland and Buchanen, ND where she talked of riding a horse to school with her sisters. She acquired a lifetime love of reading at school. She was baptized and confirmed into the Methodist faith as a child. She met Keith Schleicher at a "home dance" in the country and they were married in 1934. They moved to a farm near Wolf Lake, MN in 1936, and farmed until 1975. She continued to live on the family farm until 1996, when she moved to Woodside Manor in Menahga. She moved to Green Pine Acres in 2009. During these years, she made many good friends of the other residents and staff. Em will be remembered for her wonderful cooking skills. If you visited Em, you never left hungry! She also enjoyed crocheting, sewing and crafts. She loved sharing recipes. Above all, she loved being the matriarch of her extended family. Emmaline is survived by her three sons; Harry (Carol) Surprise, AZ; Dale (Jean) Fletcher, NC; and Larry (Barbara) Menahga, MN. She is also survived by her grandchildren Michael, Connie, Sandra, David, Randy, Jamie, Cameron, Leigh and Steven. Great grandchildren are Sarah, Jennifer, Dustin, Katie, Kyra, Emma, Anna, Keith, Courtney, Jordan, Bryce, Cailin, Taylor, Samuel, Luka, Julia and William. Great-great grandchildren are Ethan, Garrison, Matthew, Hannah, Alexander, Kessa and Sky; two sisters Edith Olson and Ethel Smith; brother-in-law Richard Schleicher; sister-in-law Mary Lou Marshik and numerous nephews and nieces. Preceding Em in death are her parents, husband Keith Schleicher; sisters: Mary Ahlers, Nellie Larson, Nancy Perleberg and Alice Beard, and daughter Shirley Leone Blechinger, brothers-in-law and three half-sisters, who lived in Canada. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Friday, April 1, 2011 at the United Methodist Church in Menahga, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, April 2, 2011 at the United Methodist Church in Menahga, MN with Pastor Steve Koehne officiating. Nancy Johnston will serve as organist. Congregational hymns include “In the Garden,” “Amazing Grace” and “Blessed Assurance.” Honorary Pallbearers are the Staff at Green Pine Acres Nursing Home. Active Casketbearers will be Michael Blechinger, David Blechinger, Randy Blechinger, Cameron Schleicher, Steve Schleicher and Fouad Krkaby. Interment will be at Menahga City Cemetery.
