LeRoy Elwood Boyce age 89, of Wolf Lake, MN died Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, MN. LeRoy was born to Lester and Mary (Nelson) Boyce on December 9, 1921 in Old Bridge, New Jersey where he was raised and completed school. Upon completion of his schooling he was employed through the WPA. He also worked at a Military Arsenal prior to entering military service. LeRoy served as a Military Policeman in the United States Army during WWII in the European Campaign. He was honorably discharged on November 20, 1945. LeRoy was united in marriage to Eleanor Ann Magee on June 8, 1946 in Old Bridge, New Jersey. LeRoy lived and worked in New Jersey and Pennsylvania until moving to the Wolf Lake area in 1979 to be near his Grandchildren. LeRoy was an active member of the Church of Christ in Perham and Park Rapids; he was also a member of the Wolf Lake V.F.W. LeRoy is survived by one daughter, Dolores (Dee) Boyce of Wolf Lake, MN; two sons, Richard Boyce of Wolf Lake, MN; Roger Boyce and his wife Jeanne of Wolf Lake, MN; one sister Ruth Davala of East Brunswick, New Jersey; two grandchildren Clint Boyce of Peyton, Colorado; Rachel Bishop and her husband Brett of Osage, MN; many nieces and nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Eleanor, on December 12, 1995, one brother, Everett, two sisters, Beatrice and Vivian. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at Wevley Funeral Home in Sebeka, MN. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, March 10, 2011 at the Church of Christ in Park Rapids, MN with Pastor Scott Warne officiating. Congregational hymns will be “Amazing Grace” and “The Old Rugged Cross.” Honorary Pallbearers are Raymond Perrin, Bruce Butler, John Ferencze Jr., James Updike Jr. Gary Boyce, Dennis Magee, Ronald Magee, Lester Davala and Chris Jensen. Active Casketbearers are Roger Boyce, Richard Boyce, Clint Boyce, Brett Bishop, Rachel Bishop and Dolores Boyce. The Marine Corps League of Park Rapids, MN will provide Military Honors. Interment will be at Spruce Grove Union Cemetery, Becker County, MN. Memorials may be given to ITOW (In Their Own Words...A Veterans Museum) 805 West Main, Perham, MN 56573 in honor of LeRoy.
