Inez Darlene Burgau (Anderson), 72 of Sebeka passed away on Monday, January 24, 2011 at Green Pine Acres in Menahga, after a battle with cancer. Inez was born on April 7, 1938. Inez was raised by her loving Grandma Lydia Anderson. On March 18, 1958, she was united in marriage to Marvin Burgau. They lived in Sebeka and had 3 children, and sometime in the early 60’s they moved to Hood River, Oregon. After a short time Minnesota once again became their home. They all moved to Alexandria, MN where the kids began school. Marv and Inez moved to Sebeka in the fall of 1967 when they bought a gas station. And in 1970 they purchased the old Standard Station on Hwy 71 and opened Marv’s 66. Inez was a great bookkeeper and they were very successful. Later in life Inez worked as a nanny in Mpls. and Fargo but once again Sebeka beckoned her. She worked cleaning motels and later she worked until her retirement for her daughter Janet at Marv’s. Inez enjoyed karaoke and campfires. She also enjoyed watching her grandsons grow-up and her trips to Fargo where she always had to stop at the Detroit Lakes Kmart. She loved the sessions around her kitchen table with family and friends and poured hundreds of gallons of coffee as they solved the world’s problems and laughed endlessly. Everyone knew Inez as “Elmo” due to her love for the furry red Muppet from Sesame Street. Everyone who knew Inez has a story to tell and is always told with a smile on their face. She is survived by one son, Jeffrey Burgau (Pam Johnson) of Steele, ND; two daughters, Janet Burgau (Leann Yliniemi) of Sebeka,MN and Jennifer Pomey (Ivan) of West Fargo, ND; three grandsons, Bobby Haley, Sebeka, MN, Kevin Pomey, Bloomington, MN, and Matthew Pomey, Fargo, ND. She was preceded in death by her grandma Lydia Anderson, and former husband Marvin Burgau. Memorial Service will be held Saturday January 29, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Sebeka United Methodist Church Sebeka, MN. Friends may call 1 hour prior to service at the church.
