Charles Reagan Bradshaw

March 3, 1931 — January 24, 2011

"I am the resurrection and the life; he who puts his trust in Me will live even if he dies …" John 11:25 The spirit of Charles Reagan Bradshaw went to his Lord on Monday, January 24, 2011, from his home and with his family by his side. Charles, age 79, has called Sebeka, Minnesota his home for the past 23 years. Charles was born on March 3, 1931 in Magnolia, Texas, to Olen Barsley and Helen Melissie (née Golden) Bradshaw, the second of six children. He did not finish his high school education, but joined the United States Army on November 16, 1948. He served on the island of Saipan and was honorably discharged on June 3, 1950. Charles and Helen Rose Cooley joined their lives in matrimony on August 25, 1950 in Houston, Texas at Lindale Assembly of God Church. Their union was blessed with three children: Margaret Rose, Rebecca Elaine and Eric Wayne. Charles was a hard working man. In his younger years, he was self-employed in construction. Later he became the warehouse supervisor for Waddell Fine Furniture in Houston, a position he held for 15 years. This was followed by eight years of employment with OMSCO in Houston as an oil field machinist. In Minnesota, he worked for Itasca Manufacturing in Menahga for nine years constructing wood-burning furnaces and hot water boilers, and for a short time in South Dakota building stock trailers. Charles and Helen moved to Minnesota in 1976, following the death of their son. They returned to Ingram, Texas in 1987 when Charles underwent three brain surgeries in a month's time to repair an aneurysm that had ruptured three times. The surgeries left him disabled, nonetheless, he was faithful to always praise God for the miracle of surviving three ruptures. Charles and Helen moved back to Minnesota in 1988 and have made Sebeka their home since. He loved working with his hands. He enjoyed building toys in his basement workshop for his grandchildren and other children. He was a good Christian man with a generous heart. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen; two daughters, Margaret (Chuck) Martin of Absarokee, Montana and Rebecca (Larry) Komppa of Sebeka; four grandchildren: Steven (Tracy) Komppa of Colorado City, Texas; Senia (Adrian) Munoz of Colorado City, Texas; Eric (Anna) Komppa and Frank (Megan) Komppa of Sebeka; granddaughter-in-law, Delisa Komppa of Moore, Oklahoma; eight great-grandchildren: Alicia, Charles, McKinna, Gaige, Jayce, Oliver, Elsa and Howie; four step-great-grandchildren, Katie, Rachel, Sarah and Ally; and one great-great grandson, Joeby; two sisters, Barbara Jean and Jeannie Marie Bradshaw of New Caney, Texas; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son Eric; grandson Chuck Komppa; two brothers, Floyd and Bobby, and one sister, Maxine Clepper. His family laid his body to rest in Red Eye Cemetery at a private family burial on January 25, 2011.
