Laverne Eugene Stoecker

LaVerne Eugene Stoecker age 61, of Menahga/Sebeka area died on Sunday January 16, 2011 at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND. LaVerne was born on April 19, 1949 to Bernard and Bertha (Kistler) Stoecker in Walker Iowa. On May 8, 1971 LaVerne married Linda Keefer of Center Point, Iowa. LaVerne worked at VGT Transmission Co. for 39 years and was consultant for Liberty natural gas pipe lines. He really enjoyed collecting model cars, car shows, car races, playing cards and also enjoyed his family and friends. He loved to talk to new people and had many friends from all walks of life. LaVerne always had a good story to tell. He loved his dogs Brandy and Toby. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. LaVerne is survived by his wife Linda, children Charity Gibson, Chance Stoecker, and Shane Stoecker; his mother Bertha Stoecker of Central City, IA, sister Marla Malone of Central City, IA, one brother Steve Stoecker of Hiawatha, IA; eight grandchildren, Jandele Schamp, Tylor Ward, Dylon Ward, Areial Stoecker, Alec Stoecker, Jasmine Stoecker, Destiny Gwatney, and Kash Stoecker. He was preceded in death by his father Bernard and a sister in infancy. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at the Sebeka United Methodist Church with Pastor Steven A. Bruer officiating. Jayne Koskiniemi will serve as organist. Deana Skov and Avis Estabrooks will be singing “Wind Beneath My Wings”, Congregational Hymns will be “Amazing Grace” and “In the Garden”. Honorary Pallbearers are all who called him friend. Berg Nylund American Legion Post # 456 of Sebeka will provide Military Honors.
