Henry Richard Roiko, 83, of Sebeka, MN died on Friday, January 14, 2011 at Tri County Hospital, Wadena. Henry was born to Nestor and Olga (Anderson) Roiko on January 22, 1927 in Rockwood Township, Wadena County, Minnesota. Where he was raised and attended school. Henry served in the United States Army from 1950 to 1952. Henry was employed as a machinist and tool and dye maker at various companies in the Minneapolis area for 19 years. He started his own company, P & R Tool in 1970, sold it in 1973 and started Northeast Engineering in1973. In 1979, he moved the company to Sebeka and retired in 1989. He married Donna Jean Hemphill, October 7th, 1951. They lived in the Minneapolis area for 27 years, where they raised their four children. Henry is survived by his loving wife Donna (Hemphill) Roiko of Sebeka; his children Steven Roiko and his friend Linda Cusey of Karlstad, MN, Randy and his wife Connie of Green Bay, WI, Jean Jackson and her husband Eddie of Bloomington, MN, and Kevin Roiko and his wife Karen of Verndale, MN. He is also survived by six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, three sisters: Florence Lillquist of Menahga, MN, Ellen Rousu of Minneapolis, MN, and Alice Myllykangas of Menagha, MN; three sisters-in-law: Lempi Roiko, Bette Roiko, and Doris Juntunen. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Mayme Juntunen and Elma Isaackson, brothers: Reino, August, Andrew, Arve and Walter Roiko. Henry loved his wife, family and life. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. He was a charter member of Friends in Christ Lutheran Church of Sebeka. He was a former active member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church of Sebeka, where he served as a council member and a member of the property committee. He was a former member of the Sebeka Lions Club. His favorite past time was fixing up John Deere tractors. He was a former member of the Antique Tractor & Engine Club of Park Rapids and the Two Cylinder Tractor Club. Most days you could find him “up town” having coffee. He greeted everyone with his infectious smile, loved talking with everyone he met and would leave you smiling. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Monday January 17, 2011 at the Wevley Funeral Home in Sebeka, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 18, 2011at Sebeka United Methodist Church in Sebeka, MN with Pastor Steven A. Bruer officiating. Linda Roiko will serve as organist. Angela Lehmann will sing “On Eagles Wings” Kathy Johnson and Michael Hemphill will sing “How Great thou Art”. Congregational hymns will be “Amazing Grace” and “What a Friend we have in Jesus”. Casketbearers include his grandchildren Angela Lehmann, Jennifer Proctor, Patti DuPont, Adam Roiko, Marissa Jackson and Jordan Jackson. Berg Nylund American Legion Post 456 of Sebeka will provide Military Honors. Interment will be at Sebeka West Cemetery.
